Chevy Corvette and Camaro Ranked Among the Best American-Made Vehicles

The Chevrolet Corvette and Camaro are two of the most iconic cars on the market, and they’re both American-made vehicles. That’s why U.S. News & World Report recently named these two sports cars to the list of “The 19 Best Cars Made in America.”

Camaro

U.S. News gave the 2021 Camaro an overall score of 8.2 points out of 10. General Motors manufactures both the coupe and convertible versions of this model in Lansing, Michigan. You can choose from some impressive engine options for the Camaro, including the exhilarating 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 DI engine that delivers 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The car also offers six-speed manual, eight-speed automatic, and 10-speed automatic transmissions for smooth rides.

Corvette

The 2021 Corvette earned an impressive overall score of 9.1 points. A GM Bowling Green, Kentucky, plant solely builds this mid-engine sports car. Each trim of the Corvette comes with the 6.2-liter V8 DI engine, which reaches up to 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. According to U.S. News, the new mid-engine design makes for easy and confident handling on each drive. These features also helped the car earn the top spot in the publication’s luxury sports car ranking.

The Differences Between the 2021 Equinox & Blazer

2021 Chevrolet Blazer vs Equinox | Portland, ME

The 2021 Chevrolet lineup is packed to the gills with high-quality vehicles designed for families just like yours in Portland, ME. Two of the most popular options are the Equinox and the Blazer. To help you decide which model is the right fit for your family, here are some of the most important differences between these stellar SUVs.

Dimensions

While neither the 2021 Equinox nor Blazer is quite as enormous as something like the Tahoe or Suburban, they’re not short on comfort. Both models offer comfortable seating for up to five, but the Blazer boasts more overall passenger volume thanks to its larger body. In terms of cargo volume, there’s virtually no difference between the two, as the Blazer offers up to 64.2 cubic feet and the Equinox provides 63.9.

Design

This is one area where the dynamic duo show their unique personalities. The 2021 Blazer is a stone-cold stunner, with a low, athletic stance, an imposing grille, and a body defined by delicate curves and aggressive angles. On the other hand, the Equinox is more understated. Its body is smoother, its accents are a bit more subtle, and its presence is less intimidating overall. Both look great, just in different ways.

Powertrains

If you want something that packs a serious punch under the hood, the Blazer is your best bet. It offers three engine options, including a 3.6-liter V6 that belts out 308 horsepower. All of them outperform the Equinox’s single powertrain, a 1.5-liter turbo that tops out at 170 horsepower. The trade pays off big-time at the gas pump, as the Equinox can achieve up to 31 mpg on the highway.*

The good news is that there’s no way to go wrong when choosing between the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer. To see which one is your perfect match, swing by Quirk Chevrolet of Portland for a few test drives.

The folks at Roadshow have evaluated all of the industry’s newest and greatest EVs, and came to the conclusion that one of the best small electric cars you can buy is the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt.

“There has never been a better time to make the jump to an electric vehicle than right now,” Roadshow said, and that’s especially true if the EV of your choice is the Chevy Bolt.

With 266 lb-ft of torque and punchy acceleration on par with sub-$30,000 sports cars, the Bolt makes a good showing on the performance front. And despite its affordable starting price, it delivers an exceptional range of 259 miles.*

“The Bolt is still one of the best bargains on the market when it comes to range versus cost. With a range of 259 miles in a cute-ish hatchback body style, there’s plenty of reason to recommend it,” Roadshow said.

The 2021 Chevrolet Bolt is already one of the top EVs you can buy today, but keep in mind that it’s due to get a major upgrade for the 2022 model year. Chevrolet, Tahoe

History of the Chevrolet Tahoe

Chevrolet Tahoe | Portland, ME

The Chevrolet Tahoe is one of the most iconic full-size SUVs in the world, perhaps only rivaled by its larger sibling, the Suburban. In its 25-year history, the Tahoe has combined segment-leading levels of practicality, high-tech features, and sheer rugged style. Take a look at the history of the Chevrolet Tahoe to see how far it’s come.

It Started in 1995

The first Tahoe launched in 1995 as a rebadged Chevy K5 Blazer sharing a platform with both the Suburban and the Yukon. It could seat up to six passengers in both two- and four-door configurations. Thanks to its ruggedness and capability, it was soon sought after by government agencies, and Chevy quickly began creating the Tahoe pursuit vehicle for law enforcement. A short while later, the military started using the Tahoe too.

Teenage Years

The Chevy Tahoe grew into its own as it entered new generation after generation in 2000, 2007, and 2015. Its first major redesign saw the introduction of a third row, expanding seating for up to nine passengers. The third-gen model improved aerodynamics and eventually added a hybrid model. In 2015, the Tahoe became truly modernized, with such features as automatic emergency braking and standard built-in Wi-Fi®.

Fifth Generation

For the 2021 model year, the Tahoe is entering its fifth generation. It includes a host of significant upgrades like more standard safety features, a cool adaptive suspension, and a new turbodiesel engine. We’re excited to see where Chevy takes the Tahoe from there.

If you’re in the market for a full-size SUV, it’s hard to beat the Chevrolet Tahoe. Check out this SUV icon at Quirk Chevrolet of Portland.

2020 Chevrolet Sonic Named a Best Car for Recent Grads by US News

2020 Chevrolet Sonic | Portland, ME

US News & World Report, one of the most trusted voices in the auto industry, recently named the 2020 Chevy Sonic to its list of Best Cars for Recent Graduates. US News said the editors compiled their list based on reliability and safety, as well as an affordable sticker price and low cost of ownership.

The Sonic is small, making it easy to drive in the city and maneuver in and out of tight parking spaces, but it’s also spacious on the inside. It offers ample legroom, as well as a roomy cargo area of 47.7 cubic feet — a rarity among other models in the compact car segment.

US News also stated that the Sonic is “surprisingly fun to drive” despite its small size and low MSRP, so if you’re looking for a car that combines peppy performance with practicality, it’s a great choice. It doesn’t hurt that it’s super fuel-efficient, with the current model’s turbocharged engine delivering up to 34 mpg on the highway.*

You also get impressive versatility with the Sonic. Available in both hatchback and sedan styles, the Sonic has options for your driving needs and your style. Packed with smart tech like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, the 2020 Sonic delivers the features young drivers want without breaking the bank.

Looking for an Affordable Truck? Try These 2 Chevrolet Models

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 | Portland, ME

If you expand your search to used models, it’s easy to find a pickup truck for an affordable price. Two of the most budget-friendly options are the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the older Chevrolet S10 ZR2. These models were recently recognized for their affordability by Car and Driver, which named them both to an annual list of Best Used Trucks for Under $10,000.

The Silverado 1500 has been a Chevrolet bestseller since 1999. It’s a capable, durable choice for everything from do-it-yourself projects to family hauling. Silverado models can be found with a wide range of engine, cab, and bed options. Your best bet for a Silverado on a tighter budget is a first-generation or second-generation model from 2014 or earlier.

The off-road-ready Chevrolet S10 ZR2 was sold from 1994 to 2003. Even though it’s smaller than most of today’s pickups, its tough, lifted body and hardy V6 engine make it a great (but still economical) option for moving furniture, tackling yard work, or hitting the trail.

If you’re in the market for these or other affordable trucks, be sure to stop in and see us here at Quirk Chevrolet of Portland. We offer one of Maine’s most impressive selections of pre-owned vehicles, and we can’t wait to help you find what you’re looking for!

2022 Chevy Bolt EV and EUV Preview

2020 Bolt Chevrolet EUV | Portland, ME

Chevrolet recently shared a glimpse of the upcoming refreshed 2022 Bolt EV and the all-new Bolt EUV, both of which are set to be released in summer 2021. The video released in late August showed the profile of the Bolt EV slowly morphing into the silhouette of the Bolt EUV.

Both vehicles will be built on Chevy’s BEV2 electric vehicle platform, and the Bolt EUV will most likely have a longer wheelbase by about three inches. The silhouette of the Bolt EUV shows a long, sleek body with sharper angles than the rounder Bolt EV.

Not much is known about the 2022 Bolt EUV at this time, but we do know that it will come with GM’s Super Cruise self-driving technology, which until now was only offered in luxury Cadillac vehicles. Super Cruise uses driver-assist features like lane centering and adaptive cruise control to let you drive hands-free on millions of miles of pre-mapped highways.

The Bolt EV will maintain its class-leading 259-mile electric range, impressive 200 horsepower, and practical hatchback styling with tons of interior space. It will, however, boast updates to its infotainment system, a new adaptive cruise control, and seats that were even more comfortable than before.

Keep your eyes on the Quick Chevrolet of Portland blog for more info on the hotly anticipated 2022 Bolt EV and EUV, or check out our current inventory of Bolt EVs.

Silverado 1500 XFE Fuel Economy Package is a Must-Have

Silverado 1500 | Portland, ME

If you’re looking for a vehicle that can do hard work without compromising fuel economy, look no further than the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, which is offered with an excellent XFE Fuel Economy package.

The Silverado 1500 XFE Fuel Economy package is offered on 5.3-liter V8 models, bringing its EPA-estimated highway fuel economy up from 23 to 24 mpg and combined fuel economy from 19 to 20 mpg.*

The package is offered only on the Silverado 1500 LT trim with 2WD and a Short Bed and Crew Cab body style. It’s also not available if you opt for any other package, such as the Max Trailering Package, Convenience Package or Z71 Off-Road Package (after all, trailering and off-roading aren’t exactly conducive to fuel efficiency).

All of this will set you back $850, but with the extra mpg, you’ll likely make it back long before you replace the truck. The Silverado 1500, after all, is built to last a long time.

If you’re interested the Silverado 1500 XFE Fuel Economy package, visit Quirk Chevrolet of Portland and ask fot it to be added to your truck!
